چکیده

Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine the activity and optimal dose Muntingia calabura L. ethanol extract as an antidepressant using Forced Swimming Test (FST), Tail Suspensions (TST), Open Field (OFT).
Methods: Twenty-five male Swiss-Webster mice were randomly divided into five groups. Group 1 a control group, got vehicle (1% w/v CMC). As positive control, group 2 0.052 mg/20 g BW fluoxetine. Groups 3-5 received 0.7, 1.4, 2.8 orally M. leaves extract. In FST TST, immobility time test parameter. OFT, parameters grooming duration, duration entries central square, rearing.
Results: results showed that all groups had 3 marked by decreasing in TST with average percentage decrease 33.70 % 13.95%. OFT method, it is characterized increasing square rearing 63.46% 76.25%, respectively 27.57%.
Conclusion: From these show has (2.8 BW) dose.
